Hey Eyes, it’s Jeremy from the Shadow Legion, behind the controls once again.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the second game in the Tomb Raider reboot series.  We, of course, take control of Lara Croft in this action/adventure game.  With a variety of weaponry and equipment, we use all these tools to climb, swim, sneak and fight our way through the story.

A year after the events of Yamatai, Lara is looking for answers.  Her father’s research into the lost city of Kiteszh leads Lara on a search for the Prophet of Constantinople and the “Divine Source,” which grants immortality.  A group called “Trinity” and their leader Konstantin, look to interfere and claim the Divine Source for themselves.  Believing he is doing the work of God, Konstantin is looking for a way to save his sister Ana, a Trinity spy who was partners with Lara’s late father (dubbed Lord Dick Croft by The Shadow Legion).

With the help of the locals, their leader, Jacob, his daughter Sofia, and our friend Jonah, we head to Siberia to find the Divine Source and stop Trinity.  We find that it was the Prophet who helped seal away the Divine Source and protect the lost city to ensure it never was found.  However, the only way to stop Trinity from finding/using the Divine Source, is to find it first.  In order to do that, we have to enter the lost city which is protected by the immortal guardians of the city, the “Deathless Ones,” find the Divine Source, and save the day.

So I thought this was an excellent game (despite all the dick jokes from the other two).  It was a very good continuation of the first Tomb Raider reboot story.  Very good story line and gameplay was excellent.  There was obviously a lot of the collectibles/challenges that we missed to stay on point and focus on story line (is somebody hinting at a walkthrough *wink*).

I would recommend this game to anybody into adventure RPG’s.  It has simple mechanics and is challenging yet fun/satisfying.  Weapon/fighting mastery yields it’s own rewards and there’s a lot of open world feel to it despite not being a huge environment.  Solid game and really looking forward to new installments in this franchise.

Keep your eyes open!  O.O

Jeremy
